During your first visit, we will review your complete medical and dental history with you. It is extremely important for us to know if you are taking any medications or are being treated for any medical conditions, as they may affect your periodontal care.
We will examine your gums and use a small measuring instrument between your teeth and gums to measure the depth of the spaces, known as periodontal pockets. We will check to see if there is any gum line recession and if any of the teeth are loose. X-rays may be taken to observe the health of the bone below your gums.
The findings will be carefully explained to you as will be any treatment necessary. If you have dental insurance, our staff is specially trained to help you understand your coverage and make the most of your benefits.
